Farmstay and Retreat

Selah Homestead: a stately country home offering home and farm-stay accomodation and retreat options.

Established as a large farm-house with panoramic west facing rural views from lounge and living rooms, Selah is an architecturally designed home with spacious living areas and ample sized guest bedrooms. It provides an ideal setting for short and longer term stays. Landscaped gardens surround the homestead including expansive lawns with established native trees and ease of access to fields. Trees attract a range of birdlife including quail, tui, fantails, kereru (wood pigeon), silver eyes and an occasional kingfisher. Special features at Selah Homestead are the living areas and a quaint pine cottage tea house situated under the majestic weeping willow trees.

As a Farmstay, Selah Homestead is focussed upon the farmland behind the house, home to four alpacas which will happily feed from your hands.  Feeding times daily, morning and mid afternoon are carried out by your hosts, who invite guests to enjoy this experience. Farm 'work' can include spreading hay in and around the 'alpaca house' and the occasional check of fields and fences. The Alpacas are shawn once per year at the beginning of summer. They also need inoculations twice yearly. Usually the breeder and owners (your hosts) take care of these animal husbandry necessities. Surrounding farms have sheep, cattle, horses, donkeys and deer grazing year round which may be observed and enjoyed, particularly in springtime when newborn creatures abound.

As a Retreat, Selah Homestead caters for moderate to large daytime groups allowing time and space for corporate or motivational retreats, church groups or small wedding functions.
